N.J. Serious Reining competition continues at the USET Festival of Champions
Presented by State Line Tack. In the Futures Division, Mandy McCutcheon,
Aubrey, TX, positioned herself to win another Gold Medal when she scored
a 219.5 riding ARC Sparkle Surprise, owned by Susan Hawley, Dallas,
TX. In 2002, Mandy won both the Gold and Bronze medals in the Futures
competition. NRHA's Leading Lifetime Non Pro Money Earner, with more
than $629,000 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings, Mandy is a multiple NRHA Non
Pro Futurity, Non Pro Derby, Non Pro Superstakes, and NRBC Non Pro Derby
Champion. ARC Sparkle Surprise (Surprise Enterprise x Diamonds Ms Topsail)
is the 2000 NRHA Open World Champion. Success runs in the McCutcheon
family; Mandy's husband Tom sits at the top of the leader board after
the first go in the Festival's Open Championship competition.
Sally Broten, River Falls, WI, rode her own Rio Dun Good (Hollywood
Dun It x Miss Dutari Rio) to score a 216.5. Broten is number 10 on the
Leading Lifetime Non Pro Money Earners list and is the 2002 Cinch Non
Pro Futurity Reserve Champion and the 2001 NRHA Saddlesmith Non Pro
Champion. Marcy Ver Meer and Kyle Johnson tied for third place. Ver
Meer, Cave Creek, AZ, rode Carol Draeger's Onside Kick to a score of
212. Johnson, Portland, CT, rode his own Boomer Fritz to tie with Ver
Meer. Debbie Arballo, Middletown, NY, rode Greatdiamondssparkle, owned
by Sandra Gordon-Wylie, Mahwah, NJ, to a score a 210.5, earning fifth
place in the go round.
The Finals of the Futures competition will take place on Sunday, June
22, 2003. The Championship Open Finals is also scheduled for Sunday.
