Jewel In The Night was the star of the day at the NRHA Derby Spotlight Sale held in conjunction with the NRHA Derby, held May 17-23, 2004 at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After the sale demonstration and champagne brunch, this 1997 sorrel mare by Grays Starlight and out of Olenas Jewel, (a daughter of Doc O'Lena), sold for $67,000. She was consigned by Thirty Two Cattle Company and purchased by the San Juan Ranch. Jewel In The Night was a finalist in the 2001 NCHA Amateur Super Stakes and 2002 NCHA Amateur Classic/Challenge. She has $10,804 in NCHA Lifetime Earnings as well as 39.5 AQHA points and sold bred to Boonlight Dancer.
Lil Shining Suzana, a 2002 sorrel filly by NRHA Million Dollar Sire Shining Spark and out of Smart Little Suzana (by Smart Little Lena), consigned by Ken Alexander, sold for $29,000 and went home with Joan Palmer. Sayos Leo Fritz, a 2002 sorrel colt by Sayos Shining Sun (by Shining Spark) and out of Shesa Leo Fritz (by Leo Fritz), was consigned by Troy and Andrea Heikes and sold for $18,500 to the Gately Living Trust.
Promotion
An outstanding group of 50 broodmares, yearlings, two- and three-year-old futurity prospects and finished prospects were consigned to the Derby Spotlight Sale. Forty-two horses went through the sale ring and thirty-one sold for gross sales of $334,550 averaging $10,792.00.
